What Plants Can Teach Children
One of the important tools in child development is Nature-Based learning. Ameya has the ability to go to the “roots” and teach the children about the natural world around the campus which can be a truly magical and enriching experience.
Plants aesthetically manage to uplift and bring life into any space. Working with, around and caring for plants can have a positive effect on one’s emotional and mental health. It’s almost unnatural to deny anyone the joy of caring for and being amongst plants.
One of the most awesome learning outcomes and subtle areas this activity can reach is the domain of social and emotional development. Through this activity the students experienced a great visual metaphor by the gentle touch of the sensitive plant (Mimosa Pudica) and the plant responded to touch by folding it on itself.
The little Ameyans loved to care for these plants. This also helps them form an appreciation and healthy relationship with the Earth and all the lives that inhabit it.
